Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, and configure solutions for moderate complexity tasks while collaborating with senior engineers.
  • Effectively debug and resolve software issues, identifying root causes and implementing fixes independently.
  • Create architectural designs for small-scale software solutions under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Mentor junior software engineers by sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to development standards and demonstrating technical solutions.
  • Design and manage scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes utilizing Snowflake and related technologies.
  • Develop and refine complex SQL queries and data models to meet business intelligence and analytics needs.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver effective data-driven solutions.
  • Maintain data quality, integrity, and security across all platforms and processes.
  • Execute data migration and integration tasks from diverse sources into Snowflake.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues regarding data loads, performance, and availability.
  • Document data processes, technical specifications, and best practices for future reference.
  • Stay current on cloud-native SaaS architecture trends and recommend improvements as necessary.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of total work experience in software development, with at least 6 years specifically in data engineering roles.
  • A minimum of 4 years of product experience in relevant areas is preferred.
  • 4 years of domain experience in the insurance industry is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with cloud networking architectures and DevOps best practices including Azure Infrastructure and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with cloud data technologies such as Snowflake and Azure Data Factory is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices is essential.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines in data engineering is preferred.
  • Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Understanding of Duck Creek solutions in Policy, Billing, Claims, or Clarity is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Expertise in Software Product Development Lifecycle, especially in Agile methodology.
  • Deep knowledge of the insurance domain is highly valued.

Other Requirements:

Travel: 0-10%

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work.

Physical: Light lifting may be required; mostly sedentary work.
