AI Engineer

The AI Engineer will design, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions that enhance and automate SDLC processes within the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. This role focuses on leveraging AI/ML, automation, and cloud-native technologies to improve developer experience, operational workflows, reliability, and observability across the organization. The engineer will collaborate with Development, DevOps, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. The position also includes responsibilities in GitHub Enterprise administration, CI/CD optimization, technical documentation, and system troubleshooting. All work products are considered works made for hire and subject to HHSC policies and requirements.

Responsibilities
• Design and implement AI/ML models to improve SDLC processes, including test management, predictive analysis, alerting, and CI/CD optimization.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual tasks.
• Build, deploy, and maintain pipelines for training and refining AI models for DevOps use cases.
• Partner with Development, DevOps, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams to identify automation opportunities and pain points.
• Create architecture and design documentation for proposed technical solutions.
• Integrate AI-driven capabilities into monitoring and observability systems.
• Analyze software for defects, optimize performance, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Administer GitHub Enterprise Cloud, including repositories, branching strategies, governance, and workflow automation.
• Support and train end users at all levels on related systems and tools.
• Perform system analysis, incident classification, and root-cause diagnostics as required.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• 8 years proven ability to administer GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
• 8 years proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
• 8 years supporting and training end users at all levels.
• 8 years hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery models.

• 3 years hands-on experience with large development projects using Agile methodology.

Work Location and Schedule
Location:
1609 Centre Creek Dr., Suite 200, Austin, TX 78754
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., excluding Texas state holidays; may require occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday work with prior approval.
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid - three days remote and two days onsite (Tuesdays and Fridays); subject to change per manager. Local candidates only.
