Job Description

The Office of Admissions is seeking a talented individual who wishes to join our staff as an International Admissions Counselor, to assist in international first-year and transfer recruitment for a university that receives more than 72,000 first-year applications (including approximately 10,000 of which are international) and 5,000 transfer applications annually.

The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management. The mission of the Office of Admissions is to attract and enroll Washington's and the world's most promising undergraduates. This position is a member of the international admissions counseling team and has responsibility for ensuring accurate, consistent, and friendly customer service is provided to prospective international students, families, guidance counselors and other influencer's who interact with the Office of Admissions. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Admission for International Recruitment.

Additional responsibilities of this position include counseling prospective international students, support managing an international recruitment portfolio, budget planning, and using CRM technology.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Counseling prospective international first-year and transfer applicants about the opportunities available at the UW and about the admissions process. Such counseling takes place through in-person appointments, information sessions, phone calls, webinars and emails 30%
  • Representing the UW at community colleges, high schools, community events, and on-campus information sessions and events 20%
  • Domestic and international travel to select locations 15%
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student & Exchange Visitor Program to coordinate, create, and process F visa documents for incoming international first-year, transfer, and other programs in collaboration with the international processing staff as well as International Student Services 10%
  • Assisting in outreach and recruitment programs in person and virtually 10%
  • Reviewing undergraduate applications through a holistic process 10%
  • Other duties as assigned 5%
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years admissions counseling and/or recruitment experience, or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications
  • Must be comfortable with technology and have basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets and database software tools.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible and have the drive to work in a fast-paced office.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills are essential, as are strong public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in both international first-year and transfer admissions recruitment and an understanding of the distinctive qualities of the UW.
  • Experience working with international populations as well as an understanding of cultural differences and their effect on college planning.
  • Familiarity with CRM or student information systems.
  • We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the UW, has a strong work ethic, and exercises sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity.
  • Former student ambassador, tour guide, on-campus Resident Adviser, Peer Adviser, Orientation Leader, or similar student involvement. Graduate of the UW or a similar research university.
  • Washington Driver's License.

$54,312.00 annual
