In this pivotal role, you will administer comprehensive compliance programs and ensure adherence to applicable laws and internal policies. Collaborating closely with leadership, you will develop strategies that enhance medical staff performance assessment and credentialing. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of quality, performance improvement, and medical staff credentialing, including operational support, quality planning, and monitoring.
Utilizing statistical tools and benchmarking resources, you will identify trends, uncover opportunities for improvement, and lead transformation within medical staff quality and credentialing. Your leadership will drive enhancements in clinical processes that are vital to the organization.
A Brief Overview
You'll be at the forefront of administering system-wide compliance programs to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards. Working with MLH leadership, you'll direct the medical staff's performance improvement initiatives and oversee credentialing processes for approximately 2,350 practitioners.
What You Will Do
- Provide authoritative leadership to Medical Staff Services and its various programs, ensuring accountability and effective implementation of departmental goals.
- Collaborate with Patient Safety and Quality programs to align initiatives with Regulatory Readiness, Risk Management, and other key stakeholders.
- Implement strategic objectives focused on healthcare quality improvement involving Medical Staff and Allied Health Practitioners.
- Oversee credentialing, privileging, peer review processes, and professional conduct to uphold regulatory standards.
- Act as a subject matter expert, researching best practices and sharing knowledge within areas of oversight.
- Execute strategy effectively within your areas of responsibility.
- Educate Medical Staff Executive Officers on their responsibilities and offer consultation for problem-solving while adhering to policies.
- Protect confidentiality and privilege rights of practitioners in compliance with applicable laws.
- Work with Corporate HR to resolve conflicts and enhance processes regarding Allied Health Caregiver authorizations.
- Prepare and review departmental budgets, identifying areas for clinical and financial improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, promoting cooperation and supporting individual goal setting.
- Facilitate staff development through ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration, or Healthcare Administration.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration, or Healthcare Administration.
Work Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience interacting with providers and administrative staff in a healthcare setting.
- 5-7 years of management experience within quality program systems.
- Experience in training others in Quality Improvement tools and techniques.
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of quality management, statistical analysis, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Informatics and EMR technology for data analysis.
- Expertise in quality benchmarking and data analysis.
- Familiarity with hospital/healthcare operations and strategy related to quality improvement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams, including physicians and nurses.
- Exceptional management, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Capacity to handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- Adept at analyzing data and identifying trends to guide decision-making.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Supervises the Director of Medical Staff Services, Quality Improvement Specialists, and additional support staff.
- Participates actively in leadership roles on Administrative, Board, and Medical Staff committees focused on Quality Improvement.
Physical Demands
- Some physical activities may include climbing, standing, walking, and repetitive motion.
- Good balance and coordination are required.
- This role generally requires light physical exertion, with the capability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Close visual acuity is needed for analyzing data and extensive reading.
- Typically performed in an office environment.
