Job Summary

The Lead Data Center Operations Manager is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) operations and on-site power generation for Oracle's data centers. This role is crucial in ensuring system reliability, compliance with regulations, and the implementation of proactive maintenance, all designed to support the seamless delivery of data center services.

Key Responsibilities

MEP & Power Plant Operations:

Supervise daily operations and maintenance of all MEP systems and power generation equipment, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

Create and enhance maintenance strategies that align with Oracle and OEM standards, striving for optimal uptime and reliability of systems.

Staff Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and manage a dedicated team of facility engineers, technicians, and contractors, ensuring 24/7 operational readiness.

Incident & Emergency Response:

Act as the primary point of contact for operational incidents, leading swift troubleshooting and communication efforts to mitigate any impact to IT loads.

Energy Management:

Analyze and optimize energy consumption in the data center and power plants to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Vendor Coordination:

Oversee external service providers, ensuring they adhere to contractual obligations and safety regulations during maintenance and inspections.

Reporting & Compliance:

Keep meticulous records and documentation, generate reports, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Continuous Improvement:

Initiate and drive projects aimed at increasing the reliability, sustainability, and resilience of critical infrastructure, leveraging analysis to implement best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years of experience in data center facility operations focusing on MEP and power plant systems, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Extensive technical expertise in critical infrastructure systems: electrical distribution, backup power (generators, UPS), HVAC, fire/life safety, and plumbing.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and crisis management capabilities.

  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), CMMS, and energy management solutions.

  • Demonstrated history of effective vendor management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Willingness to be on-call 24/7 as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CFM, PMP, LEED, or equivalent.

  • Experience with large-scale data centers or critical operational environments.

  • Background in sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.

The compensation range for this role in the US is from $120,100 to $251,600 annually, with potential eligibility for bonuses, equity, and deferred compensation.
