Your Role: As a Delivery Driver, you'll play a vital role in transporting office supplies safely and efficiently to our valued customers. Depending on delivery volume, you may also assist in loading your vehicle. Safety is paramount in this role, and we will rely on you to maintain high safety standards while fostering our safety culture.
You will plan and load products for delivery, using manifest information to develop the most efficient routes. Your problem-solving skills will come into play as you provide exceptional customer support, handle product returns, and ensure that every delivery is a positive experience. You'll be the face of Staples on the road
What You'll Bring:
- Safe and courteous driving skills, with the ability to navigate maps and adapt to weather and road conditions.
- Sound decision-making abilities, whether driving, parking, or interacting with customers.
- An inclusive approach to teamwork, building strong relationships to resolve challenges collaboratively.
- Proficiency in technology, including GPS and mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices.
- A commitment to vehicle cleanliness, alongside performance of pre-trip inspections and reporting maintenance issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record that meets company standards.
- Ability to safely pass a DOT physical and drug screen (subject to legal conditions).
- Procurement of a 6-month DOT medical card specific to job requirements.
- Basic English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Availability for additional hours beyond your scheduled shift based on business needs.
- Physical capability to lift up to 70 lbs and use equipment to move heavier items (up to 400 lbs with assistance).
- Age requirement of 21 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 1 year experience driving trucks (16 ft or longer) or similar vehicles.
- Experience in high-volume package delivery.
