We're looking for a Grant Accountant who thrives in a mission-driven environment and is passionate about ensuring financial integrity and compliance across a diverse portfolio of state and federal grants. What you'll do:
- Manage accounting and compliance for grants including WIOA, HUD, DHS, DEED, and city contracts.
- Prepare and submit timely invoices, reimbursement requests, and drawdowns.
- Maintain accurate schedules, reconciliations, and documentation aligned with GAAP and grant guidelines.
- Partner with program leaders to monitor budgets and guide on allowable costs.
- Support audits and monitoring visits-assemble documentation, respond to inquiries, and implement corrective actions.
- Record journal entries for revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and receivables.
- Assist with financial reports and grant billings for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance grant accounting workflows.
- Stay current on federal and state regulations (e.g., 2 CFR Part 200, OMB Uniform Guidance).
- Support general accounting functions as needed.
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with 5 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with federal and/or state grants.
- Experience supporting audits and monitoring processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud Financial Edge, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, grant compliance, and nonprofit/government grant accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

This is a hybrid role based in Minneapolis. On-site presence is required at times for audits, monitoring visits, and team collaboration as needed. Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed during audit cycles.
