Location: Open to the following Harris Beach Murtha offices for a hybrid remote opportunity: Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, New York City, Rochester, Syracuse, Uniondale, White Plains, NY

Description: Harris Beach Murtha seeks a senior associate or senior counsel level attorney to work with the collaborative business litigation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent our clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys about strategies
  • Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, etc.
  • Examination of records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations as to potential client claims
  • Commitment to working in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to our clients
  • The firm requires a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in litigation required
  • Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred
  • Admission to New York bar required
  • Admission to Connecticut and/or Massachusetts bar preferred
  • Federal or state judicial clerkship experience preferred
  • Must have Juris Doctorate degree with an ABA accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar
  • Must have excellent research and writing skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand new information rapidly
  • Maintains high standards of performance
  • Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility
  • Must have a professional, cooperative, positive and flexible attitude
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization
  • Military experience welcome

Salary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic locations.

Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester, Syracuse: $138,000 - $175,000
Uniondale & White Plains: $148,000 - 175,000
New York City: $159,000 - 175,000
