As an Ophthalmic Care Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting eye care providers in delivering high-quality patient care. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring efficient clinical activities and proper use of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support eye care providers by assisting with patient care under supervision, demonstrating proficiency in essential ophthalmic competencies.
  • Conduct basic ophthalmic testing procedures, perform diagnostic testing, administer medications, and carry out tasks assigned by the eye care provider.
  • Assist with minor procedures and manage prescription refill processes, all under provider direction.
  • Document patient information, educate patients, and enter charges efficiently.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to make informed decisions and maintain the flow of patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) is required. National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if functioning as a contact lens technician.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required before start date.
  • Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job ophthalmic training or relevant internship experience.
