About the Role

The Vice President of Project Management is a mission-critical executive leadership role responsible for unifying the company's commercial strategy, engineering execution, and project governance across North America. This leader will serve as the ultimate owner of delivery performance and financial outcomes across a growing portfolio of complex water and infrastructure projects.

Reporting directly to the North America CEO (with a dotted line to the Global CEO), this role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership-bridging engineering, contracts, and project management to ensure every project is delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Portfolio Leadership: Oversee all project management and engineering functions, ensuring delivery excellence across scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Commercial Oversight: Serve as the final commercial gatekeeper for major contracts-reviewing proposals, identifying risks, and ensuring commercial and legal soundness prior to execution.
  • Financial Performance: Drive profitability and cash flow discipline through forecasting, margin optimization, and proactive working capital management.
  • Integrated Execution: Develop and enforce a unified project delivery framework that aligns PMO and Engineering under shared objectives and governance.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of Project Managers and Engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
  • Client Engagement: Act as executive sponsor for key clients-building trust, resolving escalations, and ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Risk & Compliance: Manage enterprise project risk, ensuring adherence to all contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Growth: Contribute to long-term strategy by identifying opportunities for improvement in systems, delivery methods, and market positioning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (required); MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, construction, or infrastructure project management.
  • Proven record of leading large, multi-disciplinary project teams across multiple sites.
  • Deep understanding of contract management, commercial risk, and delivery frameworks in complex engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated success improving project performance metrics (schedule adherence, profitability, customer satisfaction).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L, forecasting, and working capital management.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to unify technical and commercial teams.
  • Experience in water infrastructure or related utilities strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $180,000-$230,000 base salary
  • Performance incentive plan tied to project portfolio outcomes
  • Full benefits package including health, 401(k), and executive development support
