About this Job
The mission of the LSLBC is to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public dealing with those engaged in the contracting vocation; to afford such persons an effective and practical protection against the unlawful and fraudulent acts of contractors with whom they contract; and to maintain the integrity of the construction industry. Further, the Board shall monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with the licensure requirements of the statutes.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Assists with the management of case files in preparation for and conducting hearings and adjudications for contractors in violation of licensing laws, rules, and regulations.
- Schedules hearings and drafts notices of violation and hearing, ensuring service of process in accordance with the Louisiana Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Assists persons appearing for a hearing, attorneys, board members, and the public.
- Prepares Findings of Facts, Conclusions of Law, and Orders of the Board for each case to be served to the parties of the case and maintained in the case files. Pursues service of process for board orders in accordance with the Louisiana Rules of Civil Procedure.
- May assist with special investigations, preparation of special reports, and various special projects as assigned.
- Receives, processes, and analyzes approximately 600 complaints per year against licensed and unlicensed persons engaged in the business of contracting.
- Communicates with complainants for additional information and documentation. Answers questions and explains enforcement procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
- Assesses complaints for proper routing for investigation and possible referral to other government agencies and/or law enforcement agencies
