Setup Technician | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $70,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Lansing that are seeking Setup Technicians. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and configure manufacturing machinery and equipment for production runs.
  • Install, align, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and materials according to specifications.
  • Perform test runs and fine-tune machine settings to ensure product quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or operational issues during setup and changeover.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment prior to production.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical diagrams to facilitate accurate setups.
  • Document setup parameters, process changes, and maintenance activities.
Recommended Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in machine setup and operation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools for adjustments and repairs.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) for quality verification.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC programming or HMI setup.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings (CAD).
  • Certification in a specialized area (e.g., robotics, specific equipment vendor).
  • Proven ability in root cause analysis and complex troubleshooting.
