The Healthcare Support Specialist is a vital member of our Physician-lead Care Team, responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks. Your contributions will ensure that our medical centers operate smoothly and effectively, providing excellent primary care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and record patient vital signs; gather and document medical history and patient interviews.
- Communicate patient needs to the Primary Care Physician (PCP) and other clinical personnel effectively.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist with routine screening tests; explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients.
- Monitor patients and promptly report changes in conditions to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision, including phlebotomy and basic lab tests.
- Administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, and provide first aid as necessary.
- Ensure medical supplies and equipment are maintained, stocked, and sterilized following OSHA standards; document activities accurately and ethically.
- Handle patient phone inquiries, returning calls and relaying essential information to the care team.
- Upon physician's approval, assist in calling prescriptions into the pharmacy; utilize medical terminology correctly.
- Provide health coaching to patients, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and following up via weekly communications.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the manager.
What We’re Looking For:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Strong oral and written communication capabilities, along with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with team members, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
- A problem-solving mindset focused on achieving the best outcomes for patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare standards.
- Proficiency in basic phone and computer operations; detail-oriented with a knack for maintaining accuracy in documentation.
- Capacity to maintain efficient patient flow in busy environments and stay calm under pressure.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Willingness to travel locally and/or regionally up to 10% as needed.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Compensation:
Pay range: $16.50 - $23.56 hourly
