CICS MQ Consultant

Responsibilities

Kforce is seeking a CICS MQ Consultant for an enterprise client in Armonk, NY. The ideal candidate would have the skills listed below. This role can start remote, but if the candidate is converted, they will likely be expected to be onsite 2-3 days a week. We are seeking both mid-level and senior consultants. Currently, this is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity.Summary:This role is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Company CICS and MQ software on z/OS mainframe environments. The focus is on ensuring system performance, availability, and security for business-critical applications.Key Responsibilities:

• Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain CICS Transaction Server and MQ software on z/OS systems
• Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize CICS and MQ environments for performance, response time, and resource utilization
• Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot system and application issues, including transaction abends and performance bottlenecks
• Upgrades & Maintenance: Perform version upgrades and apply maintenance to keep systems current and stable
• Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure from unauthorized access
• System Monitoring: Continuously monitor system health to ensure high availability and error-free operation
• Support & Collaboration: Provide technical support to application development teams and collaborate with operations teams to resolve incidents and implement enhancements
• Automation: Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency

Skills

• Mainframe Expertise: Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS environments
• CICS & MQ Proficiency: Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of CICS and MQ
• Performance Analysis: Ability to analyze performance data and tune system parameters effectively
• z/OS Fundamentals: Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and other core z/OS utilities
• Debugging Skills: Experience with mainframe debugging tools and techniques, including dump analysis
• Scripting: Skills in Rexx, CLIST, or High-Level Assembler (HLASM) for automation and system modifications
• System Tools: Familiarity with tools such as FileAid, SyncSort, and performance monitoring solutions like Strobe or Omegamon
• Change Management: Experience with software change management tools such as CA Endevor is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
