Essential Job Summary:

The Senior Welder and Fabricator is a key technician responsible for high-quality welding, fabrication, and structural repair of steel containers and compactors. This position requires advanced skills in MIG and stick welding and custom fabrication. The Senior Welder will work independently on complex repair tasks and help mentor entry-level team members.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform advanced MIG welding, stick welding, and metal fabrication on a variety of containers and compactor components.
• Rebuild or replace structural frames, bottoms, lids, caster brackets, and mechanical parts using custom-cut steel.
• Interpret repair orders and sketches to carry out precise rebuilding or modifications.
• Utilize cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and bending tools to shape and prepare materials.
• Lead the fabrication of specialized equipment or container configurations as required by customer orders.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure all welds meet company standards.
• Mentor and train junior welders while assisting with the onboarding of new hires.
• Maintain a clean and organized welding area while performing basic preventative maintenance on shop tools.
• Track parts usage and time spent on complex builds for cost analysis purposes.
• Collaborate with supervisors to enhance repair standards, safety practices, and operational efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in MIG welding, stick welding, and fabrication in industrial or structural repair settings.
• Proven ability to perform precise welds in various positions and on worn or contaminated metal.
• Advanced skills in using fabrication tools such as shears, brakes, torches, and weld jigs.
• Self-motivated and capable of leading complex projects with limited supervision.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to PPE and shop protocols.
• Able to lift heavy materials, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and operate yard equipment as needed.
• Willingness to work in diverse environments including outdoors and in a shop setting.
• Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, grinding dust, noise, and heavy materials is to be expected.
• PPE, including welding hood, gloves, boots, and eye protection, will be provided and must be worn at all times.

Salary Range: USD $25.60/Hr.
