Cost Accountant
Overview
We're looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our accounting team in Fort Worth. In this role, you'll play a key part in analyzing and reporting financial data tied to manufacturing operations. You'll partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost accounting, support month-end and year-end closes, and provide insights that drive efficiency and cost savings.
Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Maintain standard cost models and analyze material, labor, and overhead variances.
- Monitor production costs, yield, and efficiency metrics.
- Prepare and review cost of goods sold (COGS) reports.
- Analyze variances against plan and forecast.
- Reconcile raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventories.
- Track and report scrap, rework, and inventory adjustments.
- Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to manufacturing operations.
- Generate and present plant-level financial statements and variance analyses.
- Partner with operations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support ERP/manufacturing system enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost-accounting principles.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting or related field.
- Advanced Excel skills; JDE software experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/manufacturing systems beyond JDE.
- Exposure to process improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives.
