Overview
Imagine a career where your professional journey gives life to meaningful conversations. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the dynamic city of Lubbock, your role transcends traditional therapy; it's about unlocking communication pathways that foster connections and build confidence in individuals of all ages-from children discovering their voices to seniors regaining their autonomy.
This position offers a rewarding chance to cater to a diverse clientele across the lifespan, in an environment that harmoniously blends outpatient therapy with the rare opportunity for inpatient involvement. Here, whether your heart lies in nurturing pediatric speech development, addressing adult neurogenic communication challenges, or aiding geriatric patients with cognitive rehabilitation, you'll find a fulfilling and flexible work atmosphere that meets your passions.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive assessments across pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics through standardized tests and clinical observation.
- Craft tailored treatment strategies addressing immediate objectives while considering long-term communication and swallowing requirements.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions focusing on various aspects such as communication, language, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing difficulties.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, caregivers, and families to formulate integrated care approaches.
- Educate patients and their families to enhance therapy outcomes beyond hospital walls.
- Contribute to inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions when needed, ensuring seamless care continuity.
- Document sessions meticulously, adhering to state, federal, and institutional protocols.
- Engage in professional development to stay abreast of emerging practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending.
- Active state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days after starting.
- Expertise in evidence-based treatment approaches across age groups, with a profound understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing issues.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and a diverse healthcare team.
- Flexibility to modify treatment methods to respect and incorporate varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with electronic health records and documentation practices.
- Attractive compensation based on experience.
- Adaptable scheduling options to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
- Possibilities for specialization in pediatric, adult neuro rehab, or geriatric populations.
- Generous paid time off and holiday compensation.
- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
- Support for ongoing education and professional enhancement.
- A collaborative and nurturing environment committed to outstanding patient care and continuous learning.
A Role that Resonates with Purpose
In this role, you will not solely dispense therapy-you will join a mission to amplify voices, enhance understanding, and create joyful moments through the powerful bonds of human communication.
Within our supportive team, you will be among colleagues who regard one another as family, in an environment that values communal success over rivalry. Each patient brings a narrative; we trust you to help articulate their story with compassion and creativity.
