Summary

You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER in the AVIATION MAINTENANCE/MATERIAL DEPARTMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

Help

  • You will disassemble, modify, repair, and assemble structural parts and aerodynamic surfaces on aircraft and aircraft components including wings, stabilators, tails, fuselages, access panels, and structural components that make up the assemblies.
  • You will use hand tools, power driven drill motors, air grinders, air sanders, cutting tools, and floor shop equipment precisely without causing damage in the process.
  • You will manufacture new skins, patches, reinforcements, doublers, brackets, panels, and other sheet metal parts for installation utilizing applicable structural fasteners.
  • You will perform static and dynamic inspections and assessment of assigned aircraft structural components and accessories on workload such as Integrated Maintenance Concept, Planned Maintenance Interval, In-Service Repair, and Modification.
  • You will lead a variety of artisan trades in a cell based work environment in a variety of team configurations including mechanics, electricians, workers, and apprentices.

1) Removing and installing rivets, screws, bolts, and other aircraft fasteners to effect proper disassembly and assembly of sheet metal components. 2) Applying hole quality procedures on aircraft components and structures where required. 3) Using hand tools, power driven drill motors, air grinders, air sanders, cutting tools, and floor shop equipment precisely without causing damage in the process. 4) Assembling metal components such as clamps, brackets, stiffeners, angles and other structural subassemblies to ribs, stiffeners, angles, frames, longerons, and other assemblies. 5) Reviewing aircraft and equipment logbooks, Scheduled Removal Cards (SRC), Accessory History Records (AHR), Equipment History Records (EHR), Visual Identification/ Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAFS), Flight Crew discrepancies, Specification Requirements, Special Configuration Records, Technical Directives, and other technical documents and records. 6) Producing on-product inspections and assessments and documents reviews into a detailed work instruction that specifies the tasks to be accomplished beyond mandated depot rework specifications.
