General Description

This mid-senior level role, reporting directly to the Director of IT, is suited for a perfectionist with a knack for anticipating worst-case scenarios. The successful candidate will drive the complete solution lifecycle: gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements, working with teams to create solutions, performing QA, and assisting with implementation and rollout.

Candidates must possess first-hand knowledge of data and data-driven applications, the software development process, and a solid understanding of general IT fundamentals.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

1. Business Analyst Duties (Subject Matter Expert)

  • Create and present functional and technical requirements to business and IT teams.
  • Analyze problems/projects to identify scope and root cause, then document the outcomes.
  • Work with various users at all levels (IT Teammates, Business Managers, Executives, end users) to plan and offer automated solutions, process reengineering, and manage expectations and progress.
  • Discover functional dependencies and help make recommendations on system/business solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Facilitate review sessions with functional owners and end-user representatives.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all assigned projects.
2. QA Tester Duties
  • Write and review test cases and perform Quality Assurance (QA)/Testing.
  • Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with end users, including coordination and user acceptance signoff.
  • Prepare user and technical documentation.
3. Project Management Duties
  • Meticulously prepare and maintain all project artifacts (functional requirements, action items, decision points, test cases, project timelines, cost analysis, meeting notes, and agendas).
  • Participate, lead, or conduct project status meetings with key project stakeholders and IT Team members.
  • Keenly detect when a project is stalling and determine the course of action (technical or operational) required to get the project back on track.
  • Work with outside vendors to facilitate proposals, managing technical/operational problems and resolutions.
  • Help IT Leads manage Enterprise-level projects from initiation to successful rollout.
4. Data Analyst Duties
  • Ability to chase down data problems using tools like Excel, SQL Server Management Studio, and SQL queries.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down/understand requests and troubleshoot at every layer (from the application to the database layer).
Position Requirements

Experience & Education (Mandatory)
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst.
  • Experience working in a strong Agile/Scrum team is required.
  • Proven production level Application development & support experience is required.
  • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science and/or Information Systems.
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Solid understanding of Data Integration, data warehouse concepts, and standard reporting models.
Technical & Tool Proficiency
  • Proficiency with PC tools for analysis, modeling, and documentation, including:
    • Windows
    • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
    • Web Browsers (IE/Chrome)
    • SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMI Certification and/or Agile Scrum Certification.
  • Develop a good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
