Heavy Duty Transmission Technician – North Bay Ford (Santa Cruz, CA)

Key Responsibilities

  • Transmission Diagnostics – Perform accurate drivability and transmission diagnostics using Ford-approved tools and technology.

  • Repairs & Replacements – Repair or replace transmission components including gears, clutches, torque converters, and fluid systems.

  • Preventative Maintenance – Conduct inspections, fluid services, and performance checks to maximize vehicle reliability.

  • Documentation – Record all work performed, parts used, and recommendations for warranty and customer records.

  • Team Collaboration – Partner with service advisors, fellow technicians, and the parts team to ensure smooth, efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Certified Technician – Completion of accredited automotive technician program required; Ford or OEM-specific training highly preferred.

  • Hands-On Experience – Proven experience with heavy-duty transmission work (Ford experience strongly preferred).

  • Diagnostic Expertise – Skilled in using scan tools and diagnostic equipment to identify drivability and performance issues.

  • Attention to Detail – Committed to precision, safety, and quality repairs.

  • Strong Communicator – Clear written and verbal communication with both customers and teammates.
