Description

Leidos is seeking a Civil Engineering Project Specialist to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team. You will provide essential support to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Infrastructure Engineering Center.

We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong background as a Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer, specifically with Civil Engineering Design and experience in tower, shelter, and similar structure projects.

Location: FAA Northwest Mountain Regional Office - Des Moines, WA

Travel: 25-35%

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide invaluable technical support to the Navigation Engineering Center, assisting in the completion of project engineering packages.
  • Prepare concise and comprehensive summary trip reports within two working days following the completion of trips.
  • Compile, complete, and maintain project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Deliver technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects, including evaluating shop drawings and design proposals, while interpreting technical requirements to ensure adherence to contract documents.
  • Engage in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) for all assigned projects and recommend resolutions for all engineering-related items.
  • Conduct feasibility engineering studies to evaluate cost versus benefit.
  • Provide technical insights to assist in planning, budgeting, programming, and coordinating the development of engineering projects.
  • Develop project drawings in accordance with FAA standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design expertise and experience in tower, shelter, or similar structure projects.
  • Familiarity with Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
  • Understanding of National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET) and National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB).
  • Familiarity with Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), power systems, general building construction techniques, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, and site work.

The targeted salary for this position ranges from $110,000.00 - $115,000.00, based on experience.
