Join our AMAZING OR TEAM Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is Wisconsin's largest hospital with a 24/7 on-site heart-care team, providing innovative and compassionate care to patients statewide and beyond.

Schedule Details:

Full-time evening shifts, either 8 or 10 hours. The schedule may include on-call responsibilities, primarily overnight and a limited number of weekend slots within an 8-week rotation. On-call arrival time is within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create a clean and safe environment for optimal patient care by employing aseptic techniques when preparing materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Gain proficiency in various surgical procedures and types of equipment used in the operating room.
  • Ensure the operating room is disinfected, safe, and efficient, including room setup and equipment handling.
  • Serve as a Second Assistant when required.
  • Address equipment and supply issues promptly.
  • Transport patients and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain specialty carts and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and sterility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to different age groups.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification, issued by AHA, must be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise waived by department leadership.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and equipment used in surgical settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform in high-stress environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., carry up to 40 lbs., and push/pull 30 lbs. of force.
  • Maintain functional sight and hearing, and wear protective equipment as required.
  • Frequent movement including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, and twisting is essential.
