Summary
The Construction Project Manager is accountable for the comprehensive planning, management, procurement, scheduling, and execution of construction projects. This role manages multiple projects simultaneously to maximize profitability and exceed client expectations while adhering to quality and safety standards.

Duties

  • Embody 'The Layton Way' by ensuring predictable outcomes for teams and clients.

  • Work collaboratively with the project Superintendent to facilitate successful project delivery and foster strong client relationships.
  • Assist in project estimations and budget preparation.
  • Lead the project team in developing the project management plan (PMP) and conduct pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
  • Engage in value engineering, negotiate, and prepare project subcontracts while obtaining necessary permits and complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Create a project schedule with key milestones needed for successful project completion.
  • Oversee contract documents to ensure their integrity and consistency while planning effective project execution.
  • Manage procurement of project materials and equipment in alignment with the budget and delivery schedule.
  • Monitor project site activities focusing on cost, safety, quality, and schedule in coordination with the Superintendent, and establish quality, safety, and risk management plans.
  • Negotiate changes with owners and subcontractors while managing related financial impacts.
  • Prepare and manage monthly client payment requests and ensure timely collections.
  • Review job costs, authorize payments, manage lien releases, and participate in project accounting reviews.
  • Oversee final project closeout, ensuring the completion of as-built drawings, substantial completion letters, and recommendation letters.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating team to provide cost information for future projects.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and effectively manage all client meetings.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial construction is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
  • Knowledgeable about contractual language and construction laws to safeguard the company while providing excellent client service.
  • Familiarity with building codes, design requirements, and interpreting plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficient in team collaboration and delegation to achieve organizational and client goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
