The Affirm Experimentation Platform (AXP) team plays a crucial role in fostering data-driven decision-making and facilitating safe feature rollouts. We provide support through Feature Flags and enable hypothesis-driven learning via controlled experiments that spur business growth.
AXP is responsible for developing the APIs, systems, and workflows that empower engineers to target, ramp, and assess changes. We believe in simplicity and seek to enhance our engineers' capabilities to deliver impactful solutions while maintaining system availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead your team in achieving quarterly goals, guiding engineers through complex problems and supporting their development throughout the delivery process.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to assist peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle, engaging in idea generation and evaluating technical constraints.
- Identify and advocate for the resolution of project, process, technology, or business issues proactively.
- Monitor team artifacts' operations and availability by creating and tracking metrics, escalating issues as needed, and maintaining on-call support.
- Enhance a culture of quality and ownership within your team by establishing code review and design standards, sharing insights through writing and tech talks.
- Focus on talent development by providing constructive feedback and leading by example.
What We Are Looking For:
- 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Proven experience in building highly available distributed systems with technologies including AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to formulate a technical plan for delivering significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs, while writing high-quality, maintainable code.
- A strong background in making substantial modifications in a large codebase, equipped with tools and practices for safe adjustments.
- A proactive approach to your growth, actively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration across our global engineering teams.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base pay range for this position in the USA varies: $190,000 - $240,000 for locations like CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT, and $169,000 - $219,000 for other U.S. states. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure based on several factors including location, experience, and job-related skills. Additionally, total compensation includes equity rewards, health, wellness, and tech spending stipends, and comprehensive benefits.
As a remote-first company, Affirm allows most roles to be performed remotely. However, employees in certain positions may be required to occasionally work in their assigned Affirm office.
