Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Locum Tenens OB Hospitalist in Oakland, California.

We are seeking a California-licensed OB Hospitalist for a night shift locum tenens assignment in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate has at least two years of OB Hospitalist experience, is comfortable managing active labor, and has experience with operative deliveries including forceps. Spanish-speaking skills and prior experience working with midwives are strongly preferred.

Position Details:
Specialty: OB Hospitalist
Start Date: 06/23/2025
Contract Type: Ongoing locum coverage
Schedule: 13-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 8:00 AM (12-hour clinical shift with 1-hour handoff)
Shifts per Month: 10-13 shifts
Call: No call required

Work Details:
  • Patient Volume: Typically manage 5-8 patients in active labor per night
  • ED Consults: Generally 1-2 per night
  • Patient Population: Adult
  • EMR: Epic
  • Procedures: Standard OB hospitalist care, including operative deliveries; experience with forceps highly preferred
  • Skills Preferred: Experience working with midwives; Spanish language skills
Practice Setting:
  • Hospital-based
  • Level of acuity consistent with a busy urban hospital
Requirements:
  • Board Certification: ABOG Board Certified strongly preferred; will consider truly Board Eligible
  • License: California medical license required
  • DEA: California DEA required
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years working as an OB Hospitalist
  • Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days
