POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Background for work: The Development, Data and Analytics Team provides the development platforms and the enterprise data in our Data Warehouses. This position is for a DBA Sr to support our OLTP SQL Servers and our SSRS reporting server associated with our applications. We also have a team of DBAs focused on the successful adoption of Business Intelligence tools throughout the county. The officially supported BI tools are: SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, and Power BI. We have On-Prem servers as well as databases in the Azure Cloud and in Snowflake.

This DBA SR will be assigned production support and new projects.

Important notes:

1. Describe a time when you led or participated in a major SQL Server upgrade project in your role as a DBA. How did you drive the project forward? What challenges did you encounter, and how did you ensure minimal downtime and disruption for the users?
2. Describe your experience with SSRS Server Administration, troubleshooting, and end user support. What specific issues do you have experience working on?
3. Provide detail on the most complicated project where you were the primary DBA.
* List the project name
* Project Description
* On Prem or in the Cloud? If in the Cloud on which platform?
* Description of your role and responsibilities
* How many hours was the project and your effort in it?
* Number of people on the project team and their roles
* What Azure or Cloud components were you responsible for?
* What Tableau/SSRS/Power BI support did you provide?
* What performance testing and monitoring did you do? What tools did you use?

Scope of Work: This DBA Sr contractor position provides analysis, design, development, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting for our databases and servers (On-Prem and Azure Cloud). This position also must be able to do PBIRS Server Admin. This will be a mix of production support work, standard maintenance, as well as small to large projects.

Required Skills and Abilities: • Seven (7) years of IT DBA experience.
• This position must pass a criminal history records check.
• Azure Cloud experience (Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards, Azure Blob Storage, etc)
• Snowflake on Azure Commercial experience preferred

The skills:
* Advanced experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure SQL Server
* Advanced experience doing DBA work both On-Prem and Azure Cloud
* Advanced experience working with developers to build ETLs for loading data for reporting
* Advanced experience in PBIRS server administration, upgrades, and support
* Tableau Server administration experience preferred

The work:
* Develop large-scale databases and data warehousing
* Perform database architecture and develop technical standards for large-scale databases for our data warehouse (SQL Server and Azure) on countywide or multi-department platforms.
* Troubleshoot problems and provide technical assistance to developers and database users.
* Provide project management and work with other departments or outside agencies to integrate data from multiple database platforms and data providers.
* Formulate scope and objectives for database projects; define outcomes; develop and recommend solutions; problem solve and build consensus with management, customers, and vendors to negotiate project priorities and outcomes.
* Maintain integrity and security of databases; coordinate and perform database software installations, upgrades, and patches.
* Design, implement, and schedule physical and logical database backups; plan and perform database restoration and recovery.
* Develop database scripts and triggers; migrate data between database environments (development, testing, and production).
* Monitor, adjust, and optimize space utilization and database performance.
* Act as an expert in database architecture and technical standards for large-scale databases and data warehousing

Experience that provides a plus:
* Snowflake experience
* Power BI experience
* Tableau experience
