This is a fully remote role designed for self-driven individuals who are focused on execution and collaboration to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and sustain Azure infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and governance, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Architect and configure virtual networks (VNets), network security groups (NSGs), ExpressRoute, VPN gateways, and load balancers within Azure.

  • Enhance hybrid cloud connectivity from on-premises to Azure, ensuring optimal performance, redundancy, and strict security compliance.

  • Establish and manage Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door for secure application delivery.

  • Automate provisioning and configurations using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates, with CI/CD integration through platforms like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.

  • Collaborate with application and security teams to implement zero trust and network segmentation protocols.

  • Troubleshoot and fine-tune DNS, routing, latency, and firewall rules in hybrid environments.

  • Support monitoring and optimization efforts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Network Watcher.

  • Ensure compliance with DoD/NIST, FedRAMP, or enterprise security frameworks, as applicable.

Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Management

  • Design, deploy, and manage virtual server infrastructures across hybrid environments.

  • Optimize virtualization platforms, including VMware ESXi and Hyper-V, as well as cloud-native solutions.

  • Employ Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible to automate deployments and configurations.

Cloud Environment Support

  • Work with cross-functional teams to provision, maintain, and scale resources in various cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, GCP, and OCI.

  • Monitor resource utilization to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability.

  • Diagnose issues and perform root cause analyses to resolve system and application-related problems.

DevSecOps Integration

  • Integrate security, compliance, and operational standards within a DEVSECOPS framework.

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and merge infrastructure automation into the development lifecycle.

  • Implement containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for microservices architectures.

Performance Optimization and Monitoring

  • Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system and application availability and performance.

  • Identify optimizations to enhance system efficiency and reduce latency and downtime.

Security and Compliance

  • Apply best practices to secure hybrid cloud infrastructures, focusing on identity and access management, network segmentation, and encryption.

  • Assist with audits and compliance efforts, such as RMF and NIST.

Collaboration and Support

  • Provide tier-2/3 support for escalated issues and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors as necessary.

  • Document procedures and troubleshooting steps to promote knowledge sharing and team development.

  • Mentor junior engineers while contributing to team knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master's with 6+ years of experience; additional years may substitute for a degree.

  • At least 10 years in Azure Cloud Engineering or related Cloud Infrastructure roles.

  • Certification in one of the following: Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Administrator Associate.

  • US Citizen with a current active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Strong skills in Azure networking, including ExpressRoute and Azure Firewall.

  • Expertise in Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP).

  • Experience with CI/CD workflows for infrastructure.

  • Understanding of Azure security and identity features.

  • Familiarity with Cloudflare or Palo Alto integration.

  • Experience with Kubernetes networks is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Strong documentation and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Additional certifications such as VMware VCP or Kubernetes CKA are a plus.

  • Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53).

  • Familiarity with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

  • Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk or ELK stack.
