Patient Receivables Representative- Variance

Stamford Health is hiring for a Full-time Patient Receivables Representative Variance position. This is a full-time role Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm.
Responsibilities- Processes and follows up on nongovernment variances, including debits and credits.
- Handles inquiries from patients, third parties and agencies regarding services received or account status.
- Reviews and completes follow through on remittances for allowances and rejections.
- Updates receivable system with new, corrected or pertinent information related to resolution of receivable accounts.
- Ensure that care provided to the patient is accurately reflected on the bill and compliant with billing and patient care regulations.
- Actively work the AR to ensure reimbursement for services rendered and minimize erroneous denials.
- Ensure accounts are paid accurately and review aged AR to capture revenue and avoid erroneous charges.
- Ensure prompt, accurate, and compliant billing and payments for all third-party payer claims.
- Accurately bill and/or follow up on patient accounts according to department guidelines and insurance carrier regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile daily reports and worklists for account resolution, including credits, debits and adjustments.
- Document all actions taken on an account and complete assigned projects.
- Maintain department productivity standards and analyze variances and contracts to recover underpayments.
- Analyze accounts and contact appropriate parties for unpaid accounts; update records accordingly.
- Provide excellent customer service and act as an advocate for patients regarding third-party payer coverage, referrals and pre-certification requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate information regarding patient data/status to other health system departments while protecting patient confidentiality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain a high level of service.
- Demonstrate professional work behavior by following service standards and success factors.
- Identify payer variances and present findings to management during team meetings.
- Two years of college or two years of equivalent experience in a hospital setting with revenue cycle experience.
- Computer literacy in a PC environment is required.
- Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiar with hospital billing and coding.
