Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC): Specialty Pharmacy

Location: Garland, TX Salary: $150,000 – $170,000/year Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Reports To: Director of Pharmacy Operations / Chief Pharmacy Officer

About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned pharmacist to lead our specialty pharmacy in Garland, TX. If you’re passionate about patient care, thrive in a leadership role, and have deep experience with complex therapies, this could be the perfect fit.

As our Pharmacist-in-Charge, you’ll oversee everything from clinical operations to compliance and team management. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring our pharmacy runs smoothly, safely, and in full alignment with state and federal regulations.

What You’ll Do

Regulatory & Compliance

Keep us compliant with DEA, FDA, CMS, HIPAA, and state pharmacy laws

Maintain accreditation (URAC, ACHC, CPPA)

Act as our liaison with boards and regulatory agencies

Manage licenses and ensure policies are up to date

Clinical & Patient Care

Oversee dispensing and clinical review of specialty meds

Work closely with prescribers on therapies like biologics and injectables

Educate patients and monitor adherence

Handle adverse events and medication errors

Operations & Team Leadership

Manage daily operations: fulfillment, shipping, inventory

Oversee purchasing and specialty drug handling (cold chain, USP )

Lead workflow improvements and staff scheduling

Recruit, train, and mentor pharmacy staff

Support audits, inspections, and performance tracking

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves:

PharmD or BS in Pharmacy

Active pharmacist license in Texas

3–5 years in specialty pharmacy or similar setting

Experience as a PIC or in a leadership role

Strong knowledge of specialty conditions (oncology, HIV, MS, etc.)

Familiarity with accreditation standards

Nice-to-Haves:

Board certification (BCSP, BCOP, BCPS, etc.)

Experience with pharmacy systems, EMRs, and e-prescribing

Understanding of reimbursement, prior auth, and patient assistance programs
