Summary:

Join Meta's Data Center Facility Operations team as a Lead Mechanical Systems Expert, where your expertise will play a critical role in supporting the backbone of our operations. As a leader within the Facility Operations team, you will manage a talented group of mechanical systems experts, ensuring our data centers run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will oversee mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and project execution across various critical systems, including chiller systems, cooling technologies, water distribution, emergency power systems, and fire safety. Your leadership skills will help align your team with broader global strategies while fostering a culture of excellence and safety.

Responsibilities:

  1. Hire, mentor, and lead a team of mechanical subject matter experts, overseeing performance and HR-related functions.

  2. Facilitate collaboration between local mechanical teams and global counterparts.

  3. Act as a technical consultant on mechanical systems, focusing on practical applications and field operations.

  4. Enhance site mechanical safety initiatives.

  5. Plan, develop, and approve work packages for mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair, prioritizing safety and risk mitigation.

  6. Oversee all aspects of work management for mechanical systems, from planning to execution and closeout.

  7. Engage in hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.

  8. Manage system configurations and upgrades to maintain integrity, adhering to best practices and change control policies.

  9. Ensure quality through oversight of construction projects and maintenance activities, participating in root-cause analysis.

  10. Monitor mechanical system health to identify potential issues and implement preventive solutions.

  11. Provide comprehensive training to facility engineers and cross-functional teams on mechanical systems and operational protocols.

  12. Manage vendor relationships for mechanical maintenance and retrofitting projects.

  13. Contribute insights for global mechanical maintenance strategies and system design improvements.

  14. Expect significant travel within the first 1-3 months for training, with occasional travel thereafter for collaboration and project assessments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in the mechanical industry or equivalent trade experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with at least 3 years of related mechanical experience considered equivalent to 8+ years of industry experience.

  • 3+ years in a leadership or team management role.

  • Experience in critical facility operations with a focus on procedure-based work.

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical plans, specifications, and relevant technical documentation.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and CAD drawings.

  • Proven collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient with computer systems, including document management and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field service engineering experience with equipment.

  • Trade certification or state license in Mechanical (HVAC).

  • 7+ years of experience in a data center or similar critical environment.

Public Compensation:

$133,000/year to $190,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
