Payroll Clerk Position Overview:

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records and processing payroll for employees across multiple states, varying workforce sizes during snow season and including both Union and Non-Union positions.

Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Collect, calculate, and enter payroll data for employees across multiple states
  • Update payroll records for changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions and job transfers
  • Ensure adherence to multi-state tax laws, reciprocity agreements, and Department of Labor requirements for remote and raveling employees.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with internal audits and maintain confidentiality of payroll operations.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and HR regarding payroll inquiries
  • Other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission and abide by our organizational values
Payroll Clerk Skills/Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations and labor laws
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • General math and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under tight deadlines
  • High School Diploma, Associate's degree preferred with coursework in Accounting or HR preferred
  • 2+ years of payroll experience, including exposure to multi-state and union payroll
