The Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE) team at Collins Aerospace is looking for an exceptionally motivated engineer to design and develop electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground stations. The design includes creating and updating system wiring diagrams, aircraft, rack, and chassis cable harnesses, junction box schematics, and other connectivity related equipment. Engineering duties will span the entire product lifecycle, from requirements capture and analysis, through design, testing, and production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs can include development of power distribution, electrical loads analysis, and load shedding scheme along with the opportunity to support testing and integration of systems on the aircraft.
What You Will Do:
- Develop the wiring architecture inclusive of conventional wiring, data bus cable assemblies (power, ethernet, serial, SATA, 1553, USB, fiber optic, etc.), junction boxes and panel assemblies. Design must account for: Voltage drop, EMI and signal integrity considerations, and redundancy
- Integrate electrical components and wiring into design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements
- Verify system configuration and block diagram
- Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews
- Selection of wire, connector and accessory components matching schematic requirements
- Oversee Electrical Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Harness Assembly Drawings, Circuit Breakers, and Electrical Loads Analysis. Coordinate Aircraft electrical mission equipment installations
- Execute change orders against existing design documentation
- Identify, document, and communicate significant design and integration risks for timely review and resolution
- Monitor and report aircraft installation design milestones and report status to project/program management
- Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight
- Have excellent oral and written communications skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, work well within a design team and environment and be adept at interfacing with internal and external customers
Qualifications You Must Have:

Qualifications We Prefer:
- 2+ years of experience in the design, analysis, or testing of electrical systems for military aircraft or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or, in absence of a degree, 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience with aircraft and/or other technical system integration
- Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirements
- Progressive understanding of power systems and various mission systems
- Knowledge of design and development processes with practical experience in at least one phase of the hardware lifecycle: requirements, design, development, integration, validation/verification, and sustainment
- Able to investigate problems to the root cause and then champion the creation and implementation of corrective actions
- Experience with configuration management tools and processes
- Familiarity with AS50881, military and industry standards along with bonding and grounding concepts for aircraft
- DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461 qualification
