Oregon Tax Credit: The State of Oregon offers an income tax credit of $5,000 for physicians practicing in La Grande, which is equivalent to earning another estimated $9,930 in base salary not reflected in the numbers above. The Credit is applied to Oregon taxes before FICA tax and the estimate is based on tax brackets of 9% for State, 33% for Federal, 1.45% for Medicare and 6.2% for FICA. Location:We are located in Northeast Oregon, nestled within the mountain ranges that dominate our landscape Blue Mountains to the west and Eagle Caps to the southeast. These mountain ranges surround the Grande Ronde Valley, the second largest enclosed valley in the world and home to Union County. Needless to say, we enjoy a diverse and rich outdoor lifestyle. With a four season climate, Union County is home for many outdoor activities and sports year round. Summer and spring offer opportunities for all styles of fishing; as well as kayaking and swimming, camping, bird watching and hiking, four-wheeling and trail-riding on mountain bike or horseback. With the Mount Emily Recreation Area just two miles from La Grande, there are nearly 3,700 acres of year-round access to the Blue Mountains. In winter, it is a popular place for back-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Union County is also home to Eastern Oregon University.
