HDD Locator

The HDD Locator will operate various types of locators including Subsite and Falcon. This position requires good knowledge of safely operating equipment around live utilities in the underground/telecom utility field. The candidate must have full knowledge of underground fiber installation operations and must be capable and proficient in equipment operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example by promoting teamwork, safety, and professionalism on the job site.
- Motivate individuals and team to create a positive and highly productive work environment.
- Ensure utility locates are correct and all underground utilities are identified and located before trenching or digging.
- Operational knowledge a variety of the newest horizontal directional drill locators including Subsite and Falcon.
- Understand trenching, duct placement, cable pulling, and direct bury main-line and drops.
- Perform restoration back to existing conditions when not locating.
- Must be able to safely coordinate directional drill equipment in and around congested neighborhoods where adults and children are present.
- Constantly communicate with crew members.
- Ensure potholes are dug and utilities are daylighted prior to crossing utilities.
- Maintain accuracy in all reporting functions of directional drill shots.
- Assist with safety events and is constantly on the lookout for changing conditions.
- Ensure equipment is in proper working order and that all systems are working correctly.
- Perform basic upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and communicate any equipment malfunctions or repair needs with their supervisor.
- Communicate with fellow team members using hand or audio signals, to ensure the safe operation of equipment.
- Must have knowledge of other hand and power tools of all types: power brooms, earth tampers, concrete saws, cement mixers, and various other equipment and tools.

Requirements
Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience operating underground construction equipment such as those described above, required.
- Strong work ethic.
- Must have good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to work safely, with or without supervision.
- CDL A and tanker endorsement preferred.
- Pay Range: $22-26 per hour
