We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic Design Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL.
To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
What you'll be doing:
- Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
- Prepare and management the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
- Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
- Prepare temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
- Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans
- Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers
- Attend project meetings with clients
- Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics
- Responsible for business development activities
What you need to have:
- BS in Civil Engineering
- 3 - 6 years of traffic engineering experience
- FL PE license is required
- PTOE is preferred
- Membership and involvement in transportation industry organizations such as WTS, ASCE, and ITE will be preferred, if not already a member
- Knowledge in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, DOT local programs (beneficial), public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations
- Familiarity in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads/InRoads preferred)
- Familiarity with DOT and/or general DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
- Proficiency in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS
- Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Willingness and motivation to curate and foster personal client base
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guideline.
- If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
- Valid driver's license.
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
