About the role

Muon Space is leveraging our proprietary constellation of Earth-observation satellites to monitor and address climate change, and we need a Data Platform Software Engineer to build the engine that powers our insights.

As a key member of our Data Platform team, you will design, build, and operate the reliable, container-based platform that hosts our critical data and machine learning pipelines. You'll be the force multiplier for our science and engineering teams, empowering them with scalable cloud resources and modern DevOps practices. By creating a world-class internal platform, you will directly accelerate our ability to turn satellite data into actionable climate solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Scale and maintain Muon's data workflow orchestration platform
  • Collaborate on and improve data and ML pipelines
  • Provide expert support and maintain knowledge of data platform solutions
  • Collaborate with satellite and payload engineering teams to establish data requirements for MuonSpace data products
Qualifications
  • Applicants are required to be U.S. persons
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience building and maintaining container orchestration software platform
  • Experience using CI/CD processes for software and GitOps processes for infrastructure
  • Experience using modern observability technologies for application and infrastructure monitoring
  • Experience interacting with internal and external customers and service providers
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Building APIs at scale for data access
  • Proven experience in systems analysis, troubleshooting and design, with a strong understanding of the interplay between hardware and software.
  • Production experience with common geospatial data formats
  • Experience working with a distributed team of developers
Salary

The salary range for this role is $143,000 - $213,000 plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.

At Muon salary is only part of our total compensation package. In addition to salary, full-time employees receive equity compensation as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, short & long term disability and life insurance.
