The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and customer-focused individual to join our Welcome Center Team. As a Child Watch Representative, you'll play a key role in delivering an exceptional experience for our members.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization, just 5 miles west of New York City in the waterfront city of Perth Amboy, NJ. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Child Watch Representative is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and high-quality drop-in childcare program for members and participants' children ranging from 3 months to 10 years of age.
The Child Watch Representative also supports and promotes the organization's mission by embodying the core values of Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect, and Faith, while demonstrating cause-driven leadership through the YMCA Leadership Competencies: Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness, and Personal Growth.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Provide a safe, welcoming Child Watch environment while delivering excellent service to members and guests.
- Greet parents and children; ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures and collect applicable fees.
- Supervise children at all times and lead age-appropriate activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe area; inspect toys and equipment and report concerns promptly.
- Follow all YMCA policies and safety procedures, including Child Abuse Prevention and emergency response.
- Respond professionally to member concerns and complete incident reports as required.
- Attend required trainings and meetings; assist with special events and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children or demonstrated ability to do so.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within six months of hire.
- Ability to follow a work schedule and remain alert to safety and security concerns.
- Friendly, professional, and able to interact respectfully with individuals of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain organized and confidential records.
- Familiarity with and commitment to the YMCA's mission and values.
