Surgical Nurse Supervisor

Surgical Nurse Supervisor will join a nonprofit, Joint Commission-accredited regional medical center with shared governance, evidence-based practice, and strong physician partnerships across surgical specialties. Surgical Nurse Supervisor reports to the Perioperative Services Manager/Director and provides frontline leadership to OR and peri-anesthesia staff, including RNs, surgical technologists, and unit support teams during assigned shifts. Surgical Nurse Supervisor collaborates closely with charge nurses, the clinical nurse educator, and materials management to align staffing, competencies, and resources with case demand. Surgical Nurse Supervisor partners with surgeons, anesthesia, PACU leadership, and Sterile Processing to drive throughput, on-time starts, and outstanding patient and surgeon experience.

Surgical Nurse Supervisor supports a multi-specialty surgical services line that includes general, orthopedic, cardiovascular, gynecologic, urologic, and ENT procedures across modern operating suites with dedicated Pre-Op and PACU areas. Surgical Nurse Supervisor leads a cohesive, professional team culture focused on safety, communication, and teamwork, working alongside highly engaged physicians and experienced perioperative professionals. Surgical Nurse Supervisor will help sustain a high-energy environment that balances complex inpatient cases with high-volume ambulatory procedures.

Surgical Nurse Supervisor oversees daily clinical operations for assigned surgical areas, including practice standards, staffing and schedules, timekeeping, budgeting support, and quality improvement aligned with ASPAN and Joint Commission requirements. Surgical Nurse Supervisor provides direct patient care as needed, supports break and lunch coverage, mentors staff, advances competencies and orientation programs, and drives initiatives that improve turnover times, case start compliance, surgeon satisfaction, and preference-card accuracy. Surgical Nurse Supervisor ensures infection-prevention adherence, medication safety/barcoding compliance, equipment readiness and work orders, documentation audits, certification tracking, and shared-governance participation to achieve performance excellence. Surgical Nurse Supervisor leverages evidence-based practice and perioperative leadership to streamline patient flow, reduce delays, and enhance safety and outcomes across OR, Pre-Op, and PACU.
