Position Overview:
- Provide round-the-clock coverage for a diverse population of general surgery and trauma patients in a high-acuity inpatient setting.
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds and collaborate closely with attending surgeons, residents, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Assist in the operating room for laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures while ensuring high-quality perioperative support.
- Perform inpatient surgical consults with attention to delivering timely assessments and evidence-based care plans.
- Participate in a comprehensive onboarding and structured orientation program designed for both new graduates and experienced providers.
- Contribute to a collaborative surgical team focused on optimizing clinical outcomes and enhancing patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: As a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you will assess, triage, and manage therapeutic needs of patients throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will collaborate with supervising physicians in accordance with state laws and hospital policies, provide patient assessments, manage treatment plans, and execute necessary procedures.
- Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients and their families about care options, treatment plans, possible side effects, and discharge plans. Provide psychosocial support in a caring and professional manner.
- Information Management: Ensure proper documentation in compliance with hospital regulations while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of patient information.
- Quality Management: Uphold a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and compassionate patient care while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and advancement of your professional competencies, serve as a clinical resource for new staff, and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Experience: Clinical experience as a PA/NP in the surgical specialty is preferred but not required. Applicants must be credentialed through the Medical Staff process.
- Licensure: Current PA certification or NP license in Connecticut, ACLS/BLS certification, and any additional certifications relevant to the position.
