The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering ( TFOME ) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Cleveland, OH is searching for a Facility Engineer to perform a variety of journeyman electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
TFOME is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing engineering and technical services in the areas of aero/space propulsion and power test facilities to NASA Glenn.
Compensation
The starting salary is $102,100 to $177,00. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This candidate will serve as the lead at an assigned test facility and for specific test projects assisting the current project lead engineer and civil servant lead engineer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide research and technology engineering associated with the test facility and test project following existing procedures dictating the process for test engineering at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Lead a test project from initial interactions with customer, through requirements development, test concept development and design, and periodic reviews.

Responsibilities will include theoretical analyses, definition of experimental requirements, conceptual design and analysis of experiment hardware, test support, and reduction and analysis of data.

Support the test planning team, developing the facility interfaces required to successfully execute a test project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
A. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-
Works from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, man-lifts, cab cranes, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
-
Works while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended time periods.
-
Works in closely confined spaces.
-
Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available.
-
Pushes and pulls heavy objects.
-
Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.
-
One eye (minimum) correctable to 20/20.
-
Ability to distinguish eight color panel display.
B. WORK ENVIRONMENT
-
Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
-
Work in dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty, and greasy environment.
-
Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
-
Work with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented.

Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.
C. MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS

Up to 1½ ton trucks and vehicles

Fork lifts

Manlifts such as JLG, scissor lifts, and Bucket truck, etc.

Cranes

Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hand tools
A. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and at least 10 years' experience in engineering.
Must be experienced in space systems design, test, and analysis. This senior test engineer must be capable of applying testing experience in various space efforts immediately upon entry into the position.
Must have extensive experience with testing at other NASA test facilities and writing requirements documents for such facilities.
Strong background in project management, leadership skills, test engineering, quality (ISO 9001) and safety assurance.
