Transportation Operations Manager

Overview: MV Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations Manager to provide support, leadership, and direction to an assigned operating location to ensure the delivery of annual business plans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs
  • Select, train, and mentor location staff
  • Communicate effectively with location staff and support team members
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance plan and ensure fleet availability
  • Oversee safety and training programs to ensure compliance with company, contract, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain client contact to meet or exceed expectations
  • Conduct periodic departmental audits
  • Review key operational metrics daily, weekly, and monthly
  • Manage location financial metrics continuously and develop action plans for exceptions
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Participate in location labor and employee relations activities
  • Provide insight and information to support location contract renewals
  • Create and present location annual budget

Talent Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience
  • Management experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years comprehensive experience in operations management and 7 years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment with knowledge of Trapeze scheduling software
  • Labor/union negotiations/expenses expertise
  • Understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, safety DOT and FTA compliance
  • MS Office, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and high degree of multitasking skills
  • Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements
