Our client is a umanitarian, mission-driven organization serving forcibly displaced individuals. They are expanding their private philanthropy efforts and seeking a Major Gifts Officer to help drive growth. This role manages a high-value donor portfolio, builds strong relationships with supporters capable of giving $10,000+, and plays a key part in sustaining programs that provide safety, stability, and opportunity for vulnerable communities. The ideal candidate brings both strategy and heart-someone energized by relational fundraising and motivated by meaningful, impact-oriented work.
Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of roughly 100-150 major-gift donors and prospects.
  • Conduct regular donor outreach, including meetings, calls, and personalized engagement.
  • Develop tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Secure major gifts of $10K+ through relationship-based fundraising.
  • Provide timely stewardship, including updates, impact reports, and donor recognition.
  • Collaborate with leadership, board members, program teams, and Development colleagues to support donor engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor activity in the CRM (Salesforce preferred).
  • Support donor-related events, campaigns, and special initiatives.
Skills / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of major gifts or high-level relationship-building experience, with a track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong strategic planning abilities with comfort managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with fundraising metrics, data analysis, and CRM systems (ideally Salesforce).
  • Professionalism, discretion, and resilience in managing donor relationships.
  • Alignment with humanitarian, mission-driven work; experience in values-based or faith-aligned environments helpful.
  • Ability to travel regionally for donor meetings and events.
