Senior Medical Director, Global Medical Device

As the Senior Medical Director for Global Medical Device, you will be a strategic leader and expert partner in developing the medical strategy for the ThecaFlex DRx™ System. This implantable intrathecal catheter, catheter fixation device, and subcutaneous port system is designed to provide access to cerebrospinal fluid for therapeutic infusion.
As a key member of the Global Medical Team, reporting to the Head of Global Medical for Rare Disease, you will be accountable for developing and implementing the global medical strategy for the ThecaFlex DRx™ System. Your work will be instrumental in advancing Biogen's patient-centered drug delivery solutions. A key member of the Global Medical team, you will align your efforts with Biogen's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that mirrors the communities we serve and the patients who rely on our innovations.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain close partnerships with key medical experts and healthcare providers to inform the Global Medical Affairs strategy.
- Develop and implement medical strategies for devices.
- Oversee evidence generation plans specific to device value.
- Partner with therapeutic area Medical Directors to integrate devices into therapy strategies.
- Generate medical insights to inform strategic and tactical plans across functions.
- Lead high-impact medical activities, including advisory boards, medical education, and research projects.
- Collaborate with clinical device units and clinical development teams to support development programs and enhance site engagement activities.
- Support scientific communications in the development and execution of publication plans for impactful data dissemination and education strategies.
- Identify and advance collaborations with external stakeholders, including healthcare and patient advocacy organizations.
- Foster a positive team climate in alignment with Biogen's culture.
You are a scientific or clinical professional with a passion for science and deep knowledge of medical devices. You have keen curiosity about healthcare and business opportunities, always keeping patients, payers, and physicians at the forefront. Your collaborative nature helps in solving critical scientific and business challenges. You are willing to travel 30-40% of your time to engage with external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Advanced degree required: MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree.
- 8+ years of industry experience, preferably in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, or Field clinical engineering roles.
- Relevant experience in the medical device industry is required.
- Expertise in developing, communicating, and executing comprehensive medical affairs plans.
- Proven ability to build productive collaborations with medical experts.
- Strong working knowledge of US and ex-US regulations relevant to Medical Affairs.
- Agility, self-starter mindset, and comfort operating in ambiguous settings.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed objectives.
- Ability to travel 30-40%.
- Experience with medical launches and products at different lifecycle stages.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional, and affiliate medical teams.
- Project management skills with initiative to solve complex and challenging problems.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $273,000.00-$376,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
