PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of locking devices and building locking systems components. Work includes installing, replacing, inspecting, testing, cleaning, preventive maintenance and repair of new and existing equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Driving record that is insurable with Plano ISD's insurance carrier
- Five-years experience in locksmith trade and/or three years of experience with interchangeable cores
- Ability to communicate well and interact with all people in a courteous and positive manner
- Capability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
- The capability to read and understand the English language, in order to interpret instructions
- Leadership qualities that will set a positive role model in the department
- The practice of safe working habits for employees
- Willingness to execute a written employment contract with Plano ISD
- Maintain specific keyed locking systems installed at buildings, exterior doors, interior doors special needs security doors
- Coordinate hardware standards with New Construction Department
- Analyze each job assignment and consult with Supervisor if material is needed
- Keep records on labor and material of each job assignment and report to Supervisor
- Repair all locks and locking devices throughout the Cluster
- Install new locks and rekey existing locks as needed
- Make all repairs or replacements on door closures and door adjustments
- Work with building principals and Manager to ensure each building maintains a master key system
- Work with Manager and Supervisor on any emergencies that arise as needed
- Work with Supervisor on work orders to help maintain the buildings
EQUIPMENT USED:
Use of carpentry hand tools, power tools, stamp key machine and vehicle key box; operation
of Plano ISD vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting, twisting, reaching, bending, climbing, and moving heavy, awkward objects.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Manual dexterity to complete projects in a craftsman fashion.
Environment:
May work outside under conditions of inclement weather
Mental Demands:
Reading; Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
