Summary:
Seeking a Sr. Reliability Engineer (Software Safety) to ensure Medtronic's cardiac software products meet and exceed safety and reliability standards. This role is a key part of cross-functional R&D teams, driving Design for Reliability (DfR) initiatives, risk assessments, and safety programs from concept through market release. The engineer will analyze risks, propose reliability improvements, and provide technical leadership on patient safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Must-Have Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science/Technical field with 4+ years of engineering/quality experience OR advanced degree with 2+ years.
- Qualified to assess patient safety risks through one of the following:
- Medical doctor with device experience
- Engineer with IBHRE or NASPE certification
- 5 years of clinical field experience (nurse, clinical specialist, field engineer, cardiac technical services, etc.).
- Strong background in product reliability/safety engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with risk management and analysis techniques (ISO 14971, FMEA, FTA, PHA, hazard analysis).
- Experience in a regulated industry (preferably medical devices).
- Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485 and other quality system regulations.
