DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Controller with performing month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.
- Manages accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Prepares bank reconciliations and monitors cash balances.
- Assists with preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
- Supports annual audit processes, including compiling schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Maintains accounting records in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Monitors expense accounts, prepares accruals, and assists with budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Responds to vendor inquiries and resolves billing or payment discrepancies.
- Assists with preparation of financial reports for leadership and Board of Directors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Controller.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or association environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with accounting software systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
- Must be able to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to resolve discrepancies.
- Effective communication skills for working with staff, vendors, and auditors.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- Accuracy - Ensures work is performed correctly and free from errors.
- Dependability - Meets deadlines, works independently, and maintains accountability.
- Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Productivity - Manages workload efficiently to meet monthly and annual deadlines.
- Teamwork - Collaborates effectively with finance team and other departments.
