Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a Lead HVAC Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract in Ogden, UT. This position supports their Sentinel Program, which aims to modernize the ground-based component of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. This role is onsite and offers a W-2 hourly base rate, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half, as well as per diem and mobilization/demobilization assistance. Our client is targeting a base pay of $90.00 per hour for this position.
Due to the requirements of federal government contracts, candidates must have U.S. Citizenship. Candidates must have an active security clearance or the ability to obtain.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and per diem is available.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Experience in Piping/Ventilation and Instrument Diagram (P&ID/V&ID) development, HVAC system design, equipment, pipe, and duct sizing calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, DoD projects, or chemical process facilities.
- Experience with the International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE, and/or SMACNA codes typically used in HVAC systems.
- Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
- U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and technical guidance to the discipline work group and assist the management of discipline work process execution, and ensure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
- Assist in the building of an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Establish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied. Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.
- Devise innovative approaches to solving problems from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.
- Contribute directly to the cost-effective design of plumbing and fire protection systems, as well as unique, requirement-driven equipment.
- Identify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decisions.
- Serve as an advisor for the analysis and solution of engineering problems and interpret drawings, verbal instructions, and applicable codes relevant to project requirements, and can articulate explanations.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design.
- Perform other related work as assigned by the Mechanical Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors.
