Volunteer Coordinator- Community Health

The Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation, located in New Hyde Park, NY, is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in the directing and organizing of Parker's Community Health Volunteer Programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, assignment, and ongoing supervision of the volunteers in Parker's Community Health volunteer program. You will interact and collaborate with families to determine the need for new volunteer services, and provide community outreach to expand volunteer opportunities for the program, among other related duties.

This position is a key administrative role within the organization, with the ability to make an impact and offers a significant personal and professional opportunity to join a world-renowned health care organization. The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, conveniently located on the Queens-Nassau County border in New Hyde Park, New York, is a non-profit health care facility that offers inpatient programs such as sub-acute/short term rehabilitation, long-term care and nursing home care, as well as community health services encompassing certified home health care and a comprehensive community hospice program that serves terminally ill patients in their own homes or in nursing facilities, including Parker's nursing home.

Position Qualifications:
  • College Degree
  • 3-5 years of coordination experience in a related field
  • Prior experience supervising volunteers a plus
  • Prior experience working in a hospice or community health setting a plus
  • Experience in a health care or not for profit setting; prior experience in hospice a plus
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
