Reports To: Veterinary Technician Program Director
About the Role

Join our team as a Substitute Veterinary Assistant Instructor and help shape the next generation of veterinary professionals This role offers a flexible schedule-ideal for experienced veterinary technicians or educators seeking part-time work. You'll deliver engaging lessons, mentor students, and ensure they meet program standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach the Veterinary Assistant program using curriculum-aligned lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on student work within 72 hours.
  • Collaborate with admissions, career services, and externship partners to support student success.
  • Address academic/behavioral concerns promptly and escalate to the Veterinary Technician Program Director as needed.
  • Maintain office hours, attend faculty meetings, and participate in professional development.
  • Enforce safety protocols for students, staff, and visitors.
Core Competencies
  • Expertise in veterinary assisting/technology.
  • Ability to create dynamic, inclusive learning environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and educational technology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program (or equivalent 4+ years' experience).
  • 3+ years' practical experience as a veterinary assistant, technician, or veterinarian.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of teaching experience in veterinary sciences.
Licensure/Certifications
  • Current DVM, CVT, or RVT license/certification (or state-equivalent).
