Job Overview

The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the face of the organization, delivering high-quality patient interactions while performing forensic and clinical specimen collection. This role requires excellent phlebotomy technique, professionalism, and a strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and patient trust. Assignments may vary based on business needs and may include patient service centers, physician offices, or mobile coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established practices and procedures
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing
  • Verify patient demographics, obtain patient signatures, and confirm specimen labeling accuracy
  • Explain procedures clearly while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence
  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and confidentiality
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under direction of area supervisor
  • Promote a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of phlebotomy experience
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
  • Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Superior customer focus and professional communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and variable schedules
Scheduling & Availability Requirements
  • Flexible availability required, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
  • Must be available to work whenever scheduled, arrive on time, and remain for full shift
  • May be required to work multiple locations with minimal notice
  • Excessive absenteeism or tardiness is not tolerated and may result in termination
Time Zone: All shifts, all days of the week

Transportation & Travel
  • Reliable personal transportation is required (bus, Uber, or rideshare is not considered reliable)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required if applicable
  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Additional Requirements & Preferences
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Hospital site may require additional credentialing
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • Position is not eligible for remote work
